Chennai Georgetown court has issued an arrest warrant against RK Selvamani, husband of MLA Roja. RK Selvamani for failing to appear for trail in a defamation case.
In 2016, Selvamani and former Congress MLA Arul Anbarasu gave an interview to a TV channel. At that time, Selvamani made several critical comments about financier Mukundchand Bodhra.
Bodhra filed a defamation suit against them in Georgetown court. After Bodra’s death, the case is being pursued by his son Gagan Bodhra.
Selvamani and Arul Anbarasu did not appear in court when the case came up for hearing on Tuesday. Even the lawyers did not appear on their behalf.
The judge issued an arrest warrant against the two and adjourned the case to May 23rd.
This development has come when the cabinet expansion is happening in Andhra Pradesh and Roja is one of the aspirants.
Roja’s supporters say this is a small case and is unlikely to have an impact on Roja’s chances.
