Andhra Pradesh government had started its plans to establish affordable broadband connectivity of 2 to 20 Mbps for all households by 2018. The government had started implementing State-wide fibre optic network connectivity up to the village level within two and a half years.
This project will be in partnership of Central government. The state proposes to select the public-private partner (PPP) and joint venture partner through a competitive bidding process. The objective of this program is to provide connectivity up to the village level and enhance quality of life offering various citizen services, access to e-commerce and also use the network for other development activities.
The state government is planning to give 1 to 10 Gbps broadband connectivity to all the educational institutions, health institutions, skill development institutions may be provided the net connection free of cost. A consultant for the project will be appointed by this month end and two corporations to implement the project would also be created by May 2015.
