krishnapatnam power project telanganaThe 1600 MW Krishnapatnam thermal power project is all set to begin its commercial operation latest by February 1st week. While Telangana insists that it gets 53.89 per cent of the total power production at the plant, that is, 862 MW, Andhra Pradesh is in no mood of sharing it with the sibling state.

It argues that Telangana’s share of the investment in the project stands at Rs 1,050 crore and it will get the return on investment for its share after the commercial operation begins. Telangana state government had already taken the opinion of the state attorney general on the matter and are also ready with draft petition. They are planning to file it if the need arises.

In fact, Telangana had been demanding that Andhra Pradesh also give it the share of power due to it even during the trial operation period but has held back from approaching the courts so far for reasons best known to the government biggies.
