ap to reach union home ministry for phone tappingAndhra Pradesh government which is investigating the Phone Tapping allegations through the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is reaching out to Union Home Ministry’s help on this issue. There are some permissions of Union Home Ministry which are needed for the Telecom Operators to give the information sought by the AP government and so the government is reaching out to the center.

It is said that AP Police had got some preliminary evidences of Phone Tapping from the two days investigation of the Telecom Operators. SIT will be submitting the report to AP DGP and that report will be forwarded to the Union Home Ministry to obtain all the permissions.

Phone Tapping is a serious issue and is a big crime in the country. Only Union Home Secretary can issue permissions for phone tapping when he is convinced that national security is at risk by some one. In 1988, Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde was forced to resign over the allegations of phone tapping on opposition parties and businessmen in the state.
