AP threatens to stop power supply to TelanganaIn a fresh Power row between AP and Telangana, AP GENCO had threatened to cut off the power supply to Telangana if TS GENCO failed to pay the arrears amounting to 1032 Crore. According to the bifurcation act, Power produced in all the central plants should be divided in usage ratio.

As a result Telangana takes away the lion share of power produced despite the plants being geographically located in AP. The truncated state has thermal power capacity of 4610MW while Telangana has 2283MW. But Telangana’s demand touched 4000MW in the last couple of months.

AP claims the power bills amount to 2426 Crore and after deducting their share, Telangana has to pay up 1032 Crore. However T GENCO says the bills are inflated and the supply of its hydel power is not taken into account but AP claims it did not get any such power. T GENCO had just paid 50 Crore so far. AP GENCO threatens to stop the supply now due to impending operational costs.
