Few AP Police Stations Use Pirated SoftwaresAndhra Pradesh and Kerala, were the only two States where ‘isolated incidents’ of Ransomware virus attack were reported last month. There were rumours the Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks and Systems (CCTNS) and the entire data of AP Police were hacked.

But then, AP DGP Samba Siva Rao has confirmed that the ransomware has only affected computers at over 30 police stations in Andhra Pradesh as the latter were using pirated software. It is a shame that Police Stations were using pirated software. It is like Law Protectors resorting to illegal acts.

DGP has confirmed that the Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks and Systems (CCTNS) and the entire data are well protected. TCS is the system administrator and it has clarified that No single bit of data was infected during the attack.
