Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled ‘Smuggling in India Report 2021-22’ which analyses organized smuggling trends, Commercial fraud, and International enforcement operations & cooperation across the country.
According to the report, the amount of drugs that have been seized in Andhra Pradesh in 2021-2022 is much more than in other states.18,267 kg of drugs have been seized by the department in Andhra Pradesh during this period. Ninty persons have been arrested.
The report pertains to only seizes of the CRPF and the actual numbers will be even more when we consider seizes by all forces.
Also, 1057 kg of ganja and 165 tonnes of red sandalwood worth Rs 97 crore have been seized. After Andhra Pradesh, 10104.99 Kilos of Drugs and Narcotic substances have been seized in Tripura.
The Central report says the forces have seized only 1012.04 kg of drugs in Telangana. The huge amount of seizures indicates the intensity of the drug menace in Andhra Pradesh.
The Opposition is alleging that Andhra Pradesh has become the Drug Capital of India under Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule.
