Power-from-waste-Andhra-PradeshAndhra Pradesh is leading the country in generating energy through waste according to a report tabled by Power Minister Piyush Goyal in Parliament. Andhra Pradesh alone generated 1161.62 million units of Power while Delhi managed 355.94 million units. The report said 16 states of the country created a total of over 4100 million units of power using waste material.

Chandrababu Naidu government is keen to increase the power productivity through this waste. The Chief Minister personally visited one such project in Singapore and is keen on implementing in the truncated state. A committee of experts is already mulling on the implementation of this idea.

The Central government on the other side is encouraging Energy production through such renewable sources by giving incentives like concessional customs duty, excise duty exemption, accelerated depreciation, 10 years income tax holiday and preferential tariff for grid-connected waste to power as well as bio-CNG production projects are available.
