Chandrababu naidu temples

Andhra Pradesh government has decided to bring in transparency and accountability in the 23000 temples across the state. The endowments minister of the state, Manikyala Rao has written letter to Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu regarding bringing the temples under Right to Information act. Over the years, there are several scandals unearthed in various temples in the state and state government wants people to know how the money they donate is being spent.

There are divided opinions on this move of the governments. Some say government need not interfere too much in the Hindu temples when there are huge allegations of foreign funds coming illegally in to the country through churches and missionaries. There are others who believe this move will help increasing the sanctity of the temples in the state. However various temple managements have not really liked the decision and are planning to defer this decision.
