In less than two weeks time, there were two attacks on Andhra origin employees by Telangana employees. The state government is said to be leaning towards the ‘Popular’ side and silenced the victims on both the occasions. Such incidents have become more common in Telangana offices after GHMC elections, AP origin employees lament.
“Telangana government took Settlers side until GHMC elections. We thought the government would protect us. But then after the elections and the ruling party win, they started taking the side of Telangana employees. They attack us on matters of personal issues and egos masked with Regional feeling. But then there is no action on them and we are being transferred to insignificant posts,” said an Andhra origin employee working in Telangana Secretariat. “This is more or less expected. This kind of things will get more intense as 2019 elections opine. Telangana government took Settlers side as they are the majority in GHMC elections. Now, it has to take the side of Telangana natives as they are the majority for 2019. The government does not even mind losing a handful of seats in GHMC like in 2014,” Political observers opine.
A couple of days ago, Telangana government proposed to the Krishna River Management Board that Andhra Pradesh should take half a share in the water consumption in Hyderabad as the city is the common capital for both the states. Settlers are stunned about suddenly becoming alien to the state. A few months ago, during GHMC elections, the government was claiming everyone living in Telangana as its own people.
