Andhra Pradesh Seeks Extension of President's PowersAndhra Pradesh government has sought an extension of powers of President of India granted under the AP Reorganisation Act to resolve the contentious issues with neighbour Telangana. Section 108 ensures Powers to the President to intervene and settle matters of importance in the case of disputes.

Andhra Pradesh government is seeking an extension of section 108 of the Act at least by two more years. Chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh, Dinesh Kumar dashed off a letter to the Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Mehrishi with the request.

Section 108 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act has a lifespan of three years and would expire on June 1st. So far, there is not even a single issue in which President of India had to intervene but still, there are scores of several issues remained unsettled.
