Andhra Pradesh Objects to Telangana's Prestigious ProjectAndhra Pradesh Government had registered its Protest on the proposed Kaleshwaram Project of Telangana with the Union Water Resources Ministry. The state government objected to the agreement between Telangana and Maharashtra saying that they can not do that without consulting it.

AP has reminded the center that any new project in Godavari Basin had to be constructed only with the consultation of it, according to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. The Ministry has sought the opinion of the Center and the Board on this objection.

This Project will bring 225 TMCs of water into usage and is likely to benefit 1581 villages in Seven districts of Telangana. It will irrigate 738851 hectares in Khariff every year and 222647 acres in Rabi season. The project will cost approximately 80500 Crore according to the project DPR. Besides this, the project will involve 4067 Crore Power costs every year and another 110.82 Crore for annual maintenance costs.
