Eros International Entertainment City VishakhapatnamAndhra Pradesh government had ambitiously inked an MOU with Eros International to establish a multi-billion dollar Entertainment City in Vishakapatnam. This happened one year ago but Naidu’s government is struggling to find the required land for the mega venture. The project will require 1500 acres but then the state government failed to find the land which should be near the sea coast.

The MOU will lapse on 15th of this month and the company is unlikely to renew it. The state government already asked the company to renew the MOU but there is no communication from the other side. The government found some 1000 acres near Kavali but Eros International did not show interest to set up shop there. Eros is firm on the location as it wants the place close to the sea and in the close proximity of an international airport.

Vishakapatnam is the only fitting place for the Entertainment city in Andhra Pradesh. The Entertainment City was slated to comprise a media city, an amusement park, commercial and residential spaces, hotels as well as leisure and healthcare facilities. The media city was to house pre-production, production and post-production facilities for the film, TV and advertising industries.

Land Acquisition is becoming a major challenge for the state government in taking up various Mega Projects. Except for the Capital City Project, all other projects are facing severe land crunch hindering the ambitious plans of the state government.
