Andhra Pradesh High CourtThe AP government had recently passed G.O No.1, restricting political parties from holding public meetings and rallies in roads and highways. This came under stern scrutiny from all corners.

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has now passed an interim order on the same and has suspended the GO issued by the government of Andhra Pradesh.

After an investigation of the plea filed by CPI chief Ramakrishna, the court suspended the Government Order. In the complaint, Ramakrishna mentioned that the government is trying to curb the voice of the opposition parties with this order and seek suspension of the same.

The Court stated that the order is against the regulations and it doesn’t have any legal credence. The same was suspended a short while ago.

The court asked the government to file a counter if they are to contend the decision. Further hearing has been postponed to 20th January.
