Andhra Pradesh Government's Latest Stance on Capital ShiftAmaravati Farmers have approached Andhra Pradesh High Court against the Capital Shift after the announcements of Secretariat Employees Unions and YSR Congress MP Vijaya Sai Reddy. They brought to the notice of the court that the bill is not passed in Council.

The counsel representing the Government clarified that the Government has no plans to shift the capitals without passing the necessary bills. The court asked the Government to state the same in a sworn affidavit and posted the next hearing after 10 days.

The high court also asked the Central Government to file an affidavit with its stance on this issue. There is a perception that Andhra Pradesh Government is intentionally suppressing the Corona cases in Vishakapatnam to paint a safe look to the Port City while Guntur district has the second-highest number of cases in the state.

The State Assembly already moved a resolution to abolish the council and sent it to the center. The State Government is expecting the Central Government to dissolve the Council so that the Capital shift will be easy. But in the given crisis, it is doubtful if the Central Government will resort to any such political decisions.
