Andhra Pradesh Government Dragging Itself into Further Legal TroubleAndhra Pradesh Government has decided to take scrap the construction of various buildings in Amaravati except those needed for the Legislative Capital. Several buildings in Amaravati are in various stages of completion by the time the Government changed.

The construction has come to a halt ever since YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power but there is pressure from the contractors to give clarity about their fate. A committee headed by chief secretary Adityanath Das would decide what buildings are necessary.

Once the committee takes a decision, the Government may run into legal troubles as contractors are likely to approach the court. Moreover, the farmers who have given lands for the capital may approach the court for compensation as the Government is downsizing the capital.

Legal experts say it is not wise on the part of the Government to decide about Amaravati when the issue is in Court already.
