Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Okays Three New Districts? It is known to our readers that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy when in Opposition had promised to make every Parliament Constituency as a district after coming to Power. The Government even did some exercise in that direction immediately after coming to power but there is no official announcement regarding it.

A report in Eenadu Newspaper says that the state cabinet the other day approved the formation of three new districts. These districts will have Machilipatnam, Gurajala, and Araku as the headquarters. The Government had decided to set up new districts in phase-wise from now.

Interestingly, this issue is not put in the Cabinet Meeting Agenda and was also not made public after the cabinet ratification. The State Government is planning to set up Medical Colleges in these three places. Each college will cost 500-600 Crore.

Medical Council of India (MCI) will fund up to 60% of this expense in districts that are backward and low on literacy. So, the Government had decided to set them as new districts. The only thing which is not understandable is why the Government decided to keep the issue under wraps.
