Andhra Pradesh Assembly Passes Reservations BillsAndhra Pradesh Assembly had passed the Kapu Reservations Bill with Voice Vote a little while ago. The house requests the Central Government to allow reservations to the Kapu Community since the reservations crossed 50% limit cap.

The Opposition Party which already boycotted the session and so did not participate in the discussion. The Assembly also passed the bill to include Valmiki and Boya Communities in Scheduled Tribe Category. The Population of STs has decreased after the bifurcation and so the existing percentage will accommodate the newly added communities as well.

The bill had to be ratified by the Governor and will then be sent to Union Home Ministry. After the necessary scrutiny, it will be sent to President of India’s Assent. This is likely be accepted by the Center and so will become effective almost immediately.
