Parliament continued to feel the Special Status heat for the second day as TDP and YSR Congress MPs continued their protests. After protesting at Gandhi Statue, the MPs have rushed into the Speaker’s well, shouting slogans. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan tried to conduct the house amidst the ruckus.
Her repeated appeals to withdraw their protest did not pacify the agitating MPs. Lok Sabha was adjourned twice due to their agitation in the lower house. Later Speaker called for a meeting of all parties in her chamber and asked them to co-operate to conduct the house. On the other side, Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh are conducting bandh today demanding Special Status for the state.
People are co-operating to the bandh indicating the strong sentiment in favour of the Special Status issue. TDP Ponnur MLA, Narendra sat for a one-day Deeksha against center’s insensitive attitude towards the state. It is said that BJP high command is getting continuous ground reports about people’s mood on the issue.
