Hardeep Singh Puri -Delhi Land Pooling AmaravatiThe Union Government is implementing a Land Policy Similar to that in Amaravati for the Housing Projects in the National Capital. Around 28,074 farmers came forward to give 34,010 acres of lands for the Capital in Amaravati. Now, a similar policy is being implemented to provide 17 lakh homes to a population of around 76 lakh residents in areas that have been earmarked by the Delhi Development Authority.

Union minister for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said land pooling would see the redevelopment of the city according to the global standards. He termed Land Pooling as an effective tool to mitigate the land shortage which is a scarce entity.

However, the Union Government could invoke confidence in the landowners as such Chandrababu Naidu did in Amaravati. The web-enabled, single-window portal for inviting registration for participation in land pooling was initially planned to be open for Six Months but later extended due to a lukewarm response.

However, the farmers in Amaravati who have given their lands for the Capital are in distress after the change of the Government and the new government’s hints about changing the capital. Amaravati should succeed if the Land Pooling Policy has to succeed. With increasing costs of Land Acquisition, Land Pooling looks the only way out for major projects.
