Amaravati Dispute Reaches Andhra Pradesh High CourtA few farmers who gave their lands for Amaravati have filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Andhra Pradesh High Court urging the court to continue Amaravati as the Capital of Andhra Pradesh and develop it as planned earlier. The State Government and CRDA are made respondents in this PIL.

The court asked the respondents to file an affidavit on this issue and posted the matter to some other day. Ever since Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the idea of Three Capitals, farmers who have given lands for the capital are in distress.

They have resorted to protests and also called for a Bandh of all the 29 villages which come under the capital area. The farmers are demanding that Amaravati should be continued as a Single Capital or their lands should be returned like how they were given to the Government in 2015.

Even if the Government decides to give back the lands, most of the lands have now become not suitable for farming. Legislators belonging to YSR Congress are also under pressure with these developments.
