Narendra Modi to Inaugurate India's Chenani-Nashri TunnelNarendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India is going to inaugurate the India’s longest tunnel on April 2nd. The tunnel has become the longest one in India with a length of 9.28 KM and with world class safety features. The construction started in the mid of 2011 and is now ready for the dedication.

Officials state that the state of the art, an engineering marvel has been built in a record time in such a difficult location of the Himalayas of the Jammu-Srinagar highway, which is the only road route to reach Kashmir from rest of the states of the country. Journey on this highway in winters is an adventurous and risky task due to the landslides and the snow that block the road interrupting the ride.

The tunnel is now going to be a relief for the regular travelers of the highway like the trucks and the transporters and also reduces the travel time by two hours between Jammu and Srinagar. The tunnel is also the Asia’s longest bi-directional highway tunnel with the various lavish features and emergency measures.
