The much hyped Haritha Haram Program of Telangana government is left stranded as Cine actors who endorsed it forgot about it after the photo-ops while the government machinery do not bother it after the steam got subdued. The program came to a crashing halt achieving only a little over half of the targeted planting of 46 crore saplings.
The 46 Crore saplings target was initially set for fifteen days after Haritha Haram was launched on July 8 but later, the deadline was extended until the end of monsoon season. But the program came to halt as early as mid-August since the government machinery got busy with the process of district reorganization.
First CM KCR used to review the progress of Haritha Haram every alternate day. Later, it was chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, who took over monitoring. But later he got busy with the district reorganization after being given the responsibility of heading the task force on creating new districts. After that, all the departments got relaxed. Besides this, lack of the required saplings and funds crunch is also said to be the reasons.
