After One Year, Jagan Remembers Special StatusYS Jagan Mohan Reddy completed one year as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on the 30th of this month. On this occasion, the Chief Minister is conducting a program called ‘Mana Palana – Mee Soochana’ and today’s topic is Industries and Investments.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagan Mohan Reddy mentioned Special Status for the first time in almost a year. “Andhra Pradesh would have got several industrial incentives if Special Status is given. We are confident of getting the Special Status in the future,” the Chief Minister said.

Even before taking the oath, Jagan in his first press meet after winning elections went on to say, “We will continue to try for the Special Status. But given that Modi Government has got a bumper majority, we can only request the Central Government to grant the Special Status,” Jagan said.

In this one year of rule, there is no material evidence of the Chief Minister or his MPs making any trials to get the Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. An RTI request for any letters of the CM to the Prime Minister on this issue did not get any response from the PMO.
