aadhar cards rules in ap and tgThe ruling parties of both the Telugu states have the history of opposing Aadhar cards for various welfare schemes when they are in opposition but both the TDP and TRS governments have made them mandatory for the plethora of welfare schemes they have been rolling out. Almost all the subsidies in the two states right from the Loan Waiver scheme to pensions, Aadhar seeding is mandatory right now.

The governments are also planning to extend them to various other services like driving licenses, property registrations, vehicle registration by transport department, ration cards and others. On the other side, Central government has brought back the LPG Subsidy transfer to bank accounts through Aadhar cards and has also made it compulsory for various schemes like National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) etc.

There are efforts to make Aadhar Cards mandatory for passports going further and also there is a proposal to map Voter IDs with Aadhar Cards so as to weed bogus and multiple votes. Interestingly both the Telugu states put together have completed more than 95% of Aadhar enrollment
