In what could be considered a shocking development, Andhra Pradesh High Court has sentenced 5 IAS officers in Andhra Pradesh to jail.
These 5 IAS officers were penalised for grabbing a piece of land from a woman named Sai Brahma, who resides in Tallapaka, Nellore district and not compensating her.
The High Court had previously ordered these IAS officers to compensate Sai for taking her land. But there has been no progress in this regard.
Furious with the blatancy of the IAS officers, Manmohan Singh(retired), Seshagiri Babu, S Rawat, Muthyala Raju, and another IAS officer(name yet to be disclosed), the court sentenced them to jail.
The court suspended the jail order for a month and these 5 IAS officers have as many days to file an appeal.
