Final verdict on CM Jayalalitha case

The Special Court in Bangalore had found Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa guilty in the disproportionate Assets case. The judge sentenced her with 4 years of jail and 100 Crores as penalty and Rs 10 crore each on other convicts. If they fail to pay the fine, they will have to serve an additional one year in jail. Jayalalithaa will be taken in to Police custody in Bangalore itself tonight since the sentence is more than 3 years. She will have to file a petition in the high court over this verdict and that will also be not possible until Tuesday tomorrow being Sunday and Monday a holiday.

The Public Prosecutor asked the Judge for 7 years sentence but much to the relief of the three time Chief Minister, the judge kept it to 4 years. With this conviction, Jayalalithaa will also have to step down from the Chief Minister. It is most likely that she will appoint some one of her loyalists in the position. There are reports that Jayalalithaa complains chest pain and will be moved to a local hospital to evade arrest. Jayalalithaa was sent to hospital in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bangalore.
