Kyrie Irving Donates $38000Sharath Yedavelli and a friend Vaani Yadlapati were returning from a night class at the University of North Texas. They were both studying for their master’s in data science. Then came the crash that changed their destinies.

While Vani could not make it post-accident, Sharath is in hospital with a broken collar bone, broken leg, several facial fractures, and lost teeth. Both are from Hyderabad and it was a week before he knew his friend died in the accident that occurred at Valley Ranch and MacArthur Boulevard in Irving.

A fundraiser has been raised by Sharath’s brother Chandrasekhar Reddy as both were students and did not have insurance or no money to pay for the hospital bills and funeral. But they got a huge donation from none other than Kyrie Irving who made a donation of $38,000.

For the unversed, Kyrie Irving is one of the most popular basketball players who has many awards and records in his name.

While both families did not know Irving as they barely watched basketball and were cricket fans, they had to Google the name when the fat donation came in. Incidentally, Kyrie made two other such donations after he became a Maverick, one to help an orphanage and a school in Africa.

As for the victims, Vaani’s family was taken back for a proper burial and Sharath will take months to recover. Both families say they would like to meet Kyrie Irving to thank him personally.
