YSR-Pension-KanukaYS Jagan Mohan Reddy promised 3000 Rupees pension if voted to power. After coming to power, in the name of Word Play, Jagan went on to say he promised not to increase in pension to 3000 Rupees but to continuously increase it up to 3000 Rupees.

Accordingly, 250 Rupees per year is being increased. Accordingly, the cabinet has approved the increase to 2,750 Rupees from January 2023. That means 3,000 Rupees pension will be implemented from January 2024.

While the Government is beating the drum about this increase, the government saved around 600 Crore Rupees with this word play.

The Government says there are 2.63 Lakh beneficiaries in the social welfare pensions.

The pension has been increased to 2,250 Rupees from June 1st, 2019 and the same continued until December 2020. That means for a period of eighteen months, 2.63 Lakh pensioners lost 750 Rupees each per month. That is 355.5 Crore saving for the Govt.

The pension has been increased to 2500 Rupees from January 1st, 2021. In the name of COVID, the Government skipped a one year hike. The 2500 Rupees pension was effective until December 2021. The loss is 500 per month for each beneficiary for a period of 12 months. That means the net saving for the Government is 157.8 Crore Rupees.

If the 3,000 Rupees pension is implemented from January 2024, for the next 12 months, the 2.63 Lakh pensioners will be losing 250 Rupees each month. That means the net saving for the Government is 78.9 Crore Rupees.

Jagan Government saved around 593 Crore Rupees in pensions alone. If 2.63 Lakh pensioners, each pensioner will lose around 22,517 Rupees just because of Word Play.
