vadodara-gujarat-green-airport-photos-images-pics-1The second green airport after Kochi is all ready and Prime Minister Narendra Modi already inaugurated the new integrated terminal at Vadodara airport yesterday. The green airport in Vadodara, Modi said “will be zero discharge, waste to wealth, energy saving, and environment friendly.”

The terminal is 17,500 sq mt wide, enough to handle almost 700 passengers, with about Rs 160 crore invested in it. To make it green and environment-friendly, bricks of fly ash were used for infrastructure of the airport and it took a whole 7 years to build the airport. Modi hopes that such a construction will “encourage citizens to take up construction on these lines.”

Modi stated that he was happy that “two airports in the country have become a part of the green movement.” The foundation stone had been laid by the then Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, in 2009.
