213 Crore Funds Misused In Andhra Pradesh- CenterUnion Government has ascertained that there is a misuse of 213 Crore Rupees in MNREGA funds in Andhra Pradesh in the last two and a half years. This is reported in ‘Financial Misappropriation Recover Report’. However, the Government is able to only recover less than One Crore.

Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Vishakapatnam, Nellore, East Godavari, Prakasam, West Godavari, Vizianagaram, and Kadapa are highest in this funds Misappropriation. In Srikakulam, Vishakapatnam, and East Godavari districts, not a single rupee is recovered from this misappropriation.

The misuse of MNREGA funds is often an issue in Andhra Pradesh after 2019. We have also seen the Central Government informed the High Court that it has paid all its dues of MNREGA to Andhra Pradesh Government but the latter has diverted the funds to other schemes.

Recently, the court has given the state government four weeks time to clear all MNREGA bills with 12% interest for defaulting them.
