1000 Crore Cadbury Plant to become operational in Sri CityWorld’s leading confectionery maker, Cadbury will starts the operations of the Rs 1,000-crore first phase manufacturing unit at Sri City Special Economic Zone in Chittoor district. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the plant which will produce famous Cadbury brands like Dairy Milk, Celebrations, Silk, Perk, Five Star, Gems, Bournville and Bournvita.

The unit will come up in a 134 acre site at Sri City. The unit will come up in four phases with a manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh tonnes by 2020. The first phase is coming in to use from April 25th. This plant will provide direct employment to 1,600 people, while hundreds of indirect jobs would also be created.

Cadbury’s entry in to AP will also give the scope for increased cultivation of cocoa in the state. The state government is planning to encourage cocoa cultivation as an inter-crop in coconut and oil-palm plantations. Currently, Cocoa is produced in over 10,000 acres in East and West Godavari districts.
