Ritesh Rana surprised everyone with his first film, Mathu Vadhalara. His second film, Happy Birthday starring Lavanya Tripathi is releasing on July 8th. The recently released trailer promising another exciting film. Ritesh Rana spoke to the media about the film.
“Happy Birthday is mounted in a different world where guns are legal. A surreal world is chosen because guns should be with everyone there which is not legal in our society. But rest everything will be logical,” Ritesh Rana said.
The director also supported the ambiguity in the trailer. “The trailer should be interesting. We cut the trailer with the intention of not understanding the story. We have told what kind of world this story takes place in and introduced the characters. What the story is about will be understood after watching the movie,” he told.
The young director also revealed the logic behind continuing the same team. “All the technical team have been traveling for ten years. There is a comfort if there is the same team. We understand each other. I believe that best output comes when there is good sync in the team,” he said.
He also says Happy Birthday is not an experimental film. “Happy Birthday is also a commercial film. There are guns, fights, and songs in the film (laughs). But rather than a formula, there is a slightly different presentation. It will give you ‘kick’ when you watch the film in theater with 300 people,” he assured.
