It might sound as if one is making a mountain out of a mole-hill but the fact remains that Amazon Prime has literally killed the Overseas market of the films to a great extent, especially in the US.
As most of the films are available to watch at home after the 4 week window period, families prefer to watch the newly released movies at home. So, the motivation to go to the theatres and buy tickets for the entire family members to watch a film is slowly diminishing in the US market.
What now? That’s the reason why ‘Ala Vaikumtapuramlo’ makers came up with this idea with a poster to tell the audiences that the movie wouldn’t be available on Prime or Netflix and therefore, they need to go to the theatres to watch the movie.
In fact, this isn’t a bad idea, but will this change the mindsets of the audiences, especially, Prime fans who got used to watching the new movies on Prime? We are skeptical, though.
