Would Maestro Change Nithiin’s Fate If It Came Theatrically?Nithiin’s Maestro is the biggest thing this weekend for movie lovers. It is streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. The responses to it so far have been mixed. The bigger question is, would Maestro have given relief to Nithiin had it got a theatrical release?

Let’s start with the criticism Maestro is getting from all quarters. The casting is the first and foremost thing on people’s minds. It is off from the start when Naresh appears on the screen. It might be a minor grievance, but it sets the ball rolling for the artificial flavour.

Tamannaah is the next one on the list for most people. The actress has done her part sincerely. But, it is like watching her in every other movie. When doing a character like Simran in Maestro, there has to be some difference from what she does in regular commercial entertainers like F2, Seetimaarr etc.

And finally, we have the nativity issue and the pacing. The director Merlapaka Gandhi and his team should have taken care of this. The effort has been put in slick execution, which they have succeeded, but failed in adaptation without missing the nativity factor.

It brings us to the box office of Maestro. Given the response, it is clear that the Nithiin starrer would have got the best opening among all September 17th releases. However, it would have failed to sustain based on the mixed word of mouth.

Nithiin has had a hat-trick of duds post A Aa (in 2016). He then bounced back with Bheeshma only to continue the poor run later. Even a commercial entertaining rom-com, Rang De dropped big after a decent weekend. Maestro would have followed the same trajectory. Here’s hoping Nithiin gets his act together and delivers a resounding success with his next, theatrically, whenever it arrives.
