Single Theatres -Lockdown- Coronavirus effectAs many as eight films from various languages have announced their decision to skip the theatrical release and directly release online. This has sent jitters to the Exhibition sector across the country. INOX Multiplex Chain released a Press Note warning of taking Retributive Measures on Filmmakers who skip Theatrical Release.

But then, Exhibitors are very much aware that they can do very little to stop the filmmakers in this situation and so, they have taken another route. There are reliable reports that National Multiplex Chains are lobbying with the Central Government to let them re-open the theaters by June-end.

Some of the Single Screen syndicates of Tollywood are also trying their level best to convince both the Telugu Governments to allow the cinemas to open. They are assuring the Governments of screening the films with adequate social-distancing and other safety measures.

It has to be seen what the Governments decide. The current phase of the nationwide Lockdown will end on May 17th. Telangana Government had extended the Lockdown till 29th of this month but is ready to offer the relaxations given by the Central Government.
