The Hindi and Tamil remake rights of low-budget Telugu hit Prema Katha Chitram have been bought recently for a fancy price. The film worked in Telugu for its quirky narration and presentation, but will it click in other languages as well is something we need to watch out for.
The plot of PKC is not new in Hindi or Tamil. There have been films that dealt with supernatural presence in a funny yet scary fashion with making the attempt look clichéd. One more thing that needs to be noticed here is that most recent remakes are films that have been successful in the original. These films are being remade because they have been successful and not only because they have a story never used before.
If this is reason why PKC is being remade in Tamil and Hindi, then I highly doubt whether it will click at the box-office or not.
