Darbar-RajinikanthEver since it has been confirmed that Superstar Rajinikanth’s next Darbar is locked for Sankranthi 2020, there has been talking among fans if its fate would be similar to Petta, the last Superstar release for Sankranthi?

Similar to Sankranthi 2019, we will have three releases from Telugu. However, unlike then, 2020 will have a small release, as well. It means, if the talk is decent for Darbar, it can find patronage among the masses. It can share screens with the third release. It wasn’t the case in 2019 as all three occupied significant space.

Also, Karthik Subbaraj, however talented he might be, is no AR Murugadoss. The former lacks familiarity with the Telugu audience, and his style is not entirely familiar with the masses. In the case of Murugadoss, he is a mass friendly name. Almost all his films in Telugu irrespective of the hero have opened well.

The combination of AR Murugadoss and Rajinikanth should be enough for openings. The two days gap between Darbar (January 9th) and Sarileru Neekevvaru (January 11th) is also an additional factor. Darbar is going to get a massive release on an opening day. Petta did not have the same advantage. It was sandwiched between NTR Kathanayakudu and Vinaya Vidheya Rama.

So, these are the dissimilarities between Darbar and Petta. The box office, at least on the opening day, would be a different case. The rest is up to the talk Darbar manages to get.
