sonakshi sinha in lingaaSonakshi Sinha, the dove-eyed Bollywood actress had since long dreamed to make entry into South films. First an oppurtunity smiled on her in the form of Krish’s movie ‘Shivam’ to romance opposite Prince Mahesh Babu. She had been super excited for the offer alongside Mahesh. But somehow that project didn’t materialise.

But Sonakshi wouldn’t have any qualms for missing Mahesh because she got superstar Rajnikanth’s film ‘Lingaa’ to make her South debut. What more could one actress for? She is a Bihari by birth and Hindi is her mother tongue. For North Indians, to mouth typical Tamil dialogues isn’t that easy. The articulation of sounds is totally different.

Chinmayi, who dubbed for Sonakshi for ‘Lingaa’ was surprised to hear Sonakshi’s Tamil. She posted in one of her social networking sites, “It is her first Tamil film and her sincerity showed. She could have actually tried dubbing for herself in Tamil if not for the fact that it wouldn’t have sounded like a Tamil native. If at all she does act in some urban love story she could dub for herself.”

Sonakshi gives the credit to her choreographer turned director friend, Prabhudeva. Sona happens to be the leading lady of most of Prabhudeva’s Bollywood films. On sets, Sonakshi gets to hear a lot of Tamil mouthed by Prabhudeva. Hence South dialect don’t seem to alien to her. It’s this quality of any actress what makes them acceptable in any language they try. What say?
