Who is Surendar Reddy's biggest inspiration?
With just six films to his credit and three super hits, director Surendar Reddy has come a long way in film industry without any backing. In a recent interview, he disclosed the struggle he had gone through to finally land the opportunity to direct films. He says that it was after watching Mani Ratnam’s Gharshana and Geetanjali, he decided to become a filmmaker.

He said that like every aspiring filmmaker he also struggled to enter the industry. It took him three years to get to work as an assistant director, but he said it was during this time he learnt everything about the craft from writing a script to even narrating it to an actor. He also said that he has to thank his parents and wife the most for believing in him during trying times. While his parents supported when he struggled to make inroads in the industry, his wife became his pillar of strength his recent times. In fact, months before Race Gurram went on floors, his wife delivered twins – a boy and girl, but the girl passed away after few weeks. Deepa, his wife, never let that affect his work and stood by him.

Talking about his films, he said he still considers Oosaravelli as his best work till but is upset that the film didn’t do well. He said he received several offers to direct the film in Hindi, but he’s waiting for the right opportunity.
