Where-is-US-Telugu-Cinema-MarketWe reached the last three months of the year and to check on the progress or the status of where our Telugu cinema is standing at the US box office, the numbers are not at all satisfying. When there was the Movie Pass, even average movies crossed one million and looking at that prices have been hiked and didn’t come down much even after the Movie Pass is gone.

On top of that, after Amazon Prime started releasing movies within 4-6 weeks of the theatrical release, the market has collapsed big time. Out of the films that our Telugu makers released in the US so far this year only 20 percent of the films could see good numbers with just a couple of blockbusters and rest of them failed to pass for a hit film. So looking at the success rate, we are heading nowhere and we have to see when or where we will be seeing a recovery.

Then where is the problem? Most folks used to complain about Telugu makers being greedy for high ticket prices but now after Prime, even if ticket prices drop, there is no guarantee that audience in the US will move to theaters like before going by the current situation. That leaves everybody puzzled to where and when the correction will happen to this most complicated scenario.
