KGF 2 got off to a dream start at the box office as it has grossed over Rs 134 crores on its opening day in India alone. Now, this discussion is about the film’s OTT premieres on Aha Video.
The post theatrical digital streaming rights of KGF 2 are acquired by Amazon Prime Video. Usually, no OTT giant is as aggressive as Amazon Prime Video when it comes to orchestrating the earliest possible OTT release.
Amazon released Allu Arjun’s Pushpa just three weeks post theatrical release and that too while the film was doing particularly well in the Hindi theatrical belt. This helped the OTT giant big time as Pushpa became a raging hit on OTT. They did the same with Radhe Shyam as well. This film too premiered on Amazon just three weeks post theatrical release.
What’s clear is that Amazon is super aggressive about OTT release and they tend to release big ticket theatrical films in under 4 weeks from their theatrical release.
One can only wonder if Amazon can do the same with KGF 2 now. The film is indeed going super strong at the box office now. But it will gradually slow down in 3-4 weeks from now. It remains to be seen if Amazon can do what they do best – orchestrate 4-week OTT release for the Yash starrer.
