When Fictionalized, What Kind of Biopic Is It on Sania?  Bollywood is going to witness the making of another biopic and this time it is on the life of Tennis sensation Sania Mirza. Entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala’s company RSVP has bagged the rights to make the biopic on Sania Mirza and an agreement has been made between the makers and the tennis player. Negotiations between the parties that includes fictionalizing some events of her life besides including and deleting characters for the sake of taking cinematic liberty.

Biopics have become a new trend in Indian Cinema, not only in regional languages like in Telugu but also in Bollywood. In fact, Bollywood is churning biopics, one after the other. A biopic on Saina Nehwal is already in the making with Shraddha Kapoor playing the lead as the ace badminton player. Besides this, there are several other biopics in the making like ‘Super 30’, ‘Manikarnika’ and others.

In this scenario, another biopic on a tennis player might not be so exciting but, Sania Mirza’s life has enough spice and if taken cinematic liberties, it might prove to be an engaging biopic that can entertain the audiences. But, when it’s fictionalized, will it be called a biopic? It could be okay if some characters are deleted from the biopic. But, creating new characters will not make it a genuine biopic on Sania Mirza. What do you think, folks?
