The release date of Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s next with director Trivikram Srinivas has taken the industry by surprise. It was expected to be finished soon but not many even in their wildest dream would have imagined this soon. Additionally they have set a release date too as February 5.
So let’s look at what they have effectively done by announcing the date that one might miss not knowing the behind the scenes happening in Tollywood. Currently there are three big movies that have announced their releases for Sankranthi. However sources say one movie is bound to get postponed which is in suspense for now. Cashing in on the Republic Day holiday would have been the next best alternative but with February 5 booked for another biggie the long run prospects are nullified. The openings in any case will already be affected by the other big Sankranthi releases which would continue to hold theatres.
Leaving aside those biggies there are several other medium budget films that have reasonable expectations on them ready to arrive any time after the festival biggies are gone. Since there is an uncertainty with the big releases, they are playing a waiting game to jump to festival season even at the last moment. In doing so they have avoided announcing a tentative release time and now with Allu Arjun’s movie announcement they have lost a major slot. It is a major loss because in the weeks that follow it, the World Cup Cricket in scheduled to commence. As it is the February season is dull and with World Cup in addition, these movies might find it very hard to sustain.
