Vishal Requested Media to Postpone Reviews As the President of Tamil Film Producers Council and the General Secretary of Nadigar Singham, actor Vishal has been taking revolutionary decisions with regard to many issues like piracy and disputes among the small producers. Speaking at the audio launch event of his ‘Sandakozhi 2’ movie, he came up with a request to the media.

He opined that the media should publish the reviews on the newly released films only after three days of the movies’ releases so that the makers will get a window period to sell their respective movies. This request seems to be fair enough, superficially. But, what help will this strategy do to the small movies that primarily bank on the reviews?

How will the small films survive if no reviews come out for thee days? Besides word of mouth, reviews are also very important for small films. If Vishal says that he respects the freedom of expression, how come he decides a time period to express oneself? Many of the small films can’t even get proper exposure before the release and sometimes, only through reviews audiences get to know that, that a particular movie was released.
