It is surprising to know that our screen gods and divas are evading taxes though they aren’t totally doing this. According the reports on the income tax raids on the Tamil cine celebrities, around Rs.25 crore is evaded and at around Rs.100 crore income is unaccounted so far in the raids conducted on some celebrities.
These raids were conducted on the properties and premises of 10 people including actor Vijay, actresses Nayanatara and Samantha. It is said that Sam and Nayanatara have been evading tax for two years. Some have been evading tax for five to six years. Around Rs.2 Cr cash and Rs.2 Cr worth gold has been recovered as per the reports.
These raids have been disturbing for actor Vijay specially as the raids were planned on the eve of the release of his magnum opus ‘Puli’. Since the financial flow is blocked, the Telugu version of ‘Puli’ didn’t see the light yesterday.
