Veteran-Director-Sagar-no-moreVeteran Telugu filmmaker, Sagar, 70 sadly passed away at his residence in Chennai earlier today. He had been suffering from medical complications for a long time now and has succumbed to the same now.

He debuted in Telugu cinema with Rakasi Loya and then went on to do films like Stuartpuram Dongalu, Osi Naa Maradala, and others.

At one point, he was bound to do a film with Chiranjeevi and even got the latter’s approval for the same. Incidentally, Sagar’s Stuartpuram Dongalu and Chiru’s Stuartpuram Police Station were released simultaneously with close vicinity in terms of story. This eventually resulted in Sagar never meeting Chiru again.

In a media interaction in the past, Sagar said he never wanted to become a filmmaker and eventually landed here after performing poorly in academics.

VV Vinayak and Srinu Vaitla once worked under him and later went on to reach great heights. He spoke highly of them in an interview.

Tollywood has now lost another veteran in Sagar and we pray for strength and solidarity to family and friends in these testing times.
