The movie that is on everyone’s radar right now is the recently released Tamil blockbuster, Maanaadu. The Simbu starrer is enjoying a terrific run at the box office and is sure to emerge as the career biggest hit for the star. No wonder its remake has become a hot commodity in the Telugu film industry.
The buzz in the industry is that Geetha Arts has snapped the remake rights of Maanaadu. It is reportedly planning to remake it with a young Mega hero. While no name is out currently, many expect it to be either Varun Tej or Sai Dharam Tej.
It is not just Mega heroes, a couple of other tier two stars are in the fray. Varun Tej is busy with F3 currently and has a ready to release, Ghani. Meanwhile, Sai Dharam Tej is now in a recovery phase and has a film to finish. Depending on the dates and availability, a final call will be made.
Incidentally, Maanaadu was supposed to release simultaneously in Telugu, as well. The poster with the title – The Loop, and release date too was out. But, last minute financial hurdles meant the film missed hitting the cinemas.
Maanaadu is a political thriller with a unique time loop concept. It also stars SJ Suryah in a vital parallel role along with the hero. Kalyani Priyadarshan is the heroine, whereas Yuvan Shankar Raja provided music. The movie brings director Venkat Prabhu (Mankatha/Gambler fame) out of the doldrums after a long gap.
