Though we wanted to watch the trailer of ‘Varmaa‘ without making any comparisons with the original ‘Arjun Reddy’, it became a herculean task not to compare. The madness and the crude feeling that hit the audiences like a bang was totally missing in the trailer of ‘Varma’. There are two reasons, quite obviously.
The first one is, of course, Chiyaan Vikram’s son Dhruv who seemed to be too young to play such an intense role that needs a certain kind of madness to connect with the audiences. The boy looked too immature to carry off such a role. Coming to the second reason, it’s the background music that came as a softer version when the movie actually needs something that conveys the intensity and the craziness.
Here, if we keep aside the comparisons and look at it as it is as an original version, unlike the teaser, the trailer of ‘Varma’ isn’t that bad. For those who didn’t watch Vijay Deverakonda’s madness in ‘Arjun Reddy’, Dhruv’s expressions and director Bala’s treatment will make us appreciate their efforts to even try a blockbuster of this kind. One can say, for Tamil audiences, the trailer is promising. Nonetheless, it’s the Telugu audiences who watched the original will go for comparisons. Of course, the original is anyway, the best.
