Valmiki Movie Trailer Talk: A Mass Treat With Varun TejThe theatrical trailer of Varun Tej’s new film Valmiki is out. The director Harish Shankar has come out with another mass entertainer that is typical of his style. In the process, Varun Tej is getting highlighted with his makeover.

To those who are unaware, Valmiki is a remake of Tamil film Jigarthanda. The actor (Bobby Simha) who originally essayed the role of Varun Tej won a National Award for his part. But that was long ago. The Telugu version is different in tone, although the same story is taken. The makeover of Varun Tej brings such a distraction that one only looks at him and forget any comparisons.

Focusing only on Valmiki and the trailer, it is neatly cut highlighting the various shades of the movie. The portions involving Pooja Hegde looks a bit out of place tonally, and that could be an issue with the actual move as well. How well, those parts are integrated into the narrative without losing the essence of the original will determine the success of Valmiki.

Atharva looks alright. Despite being the lead, he has less screen time. It is understandable given the market dynamics. Other artists look apt for their parts.

Director Harish Shankar seems to be in his elements with his writing. He gives clarity on the title through the trailer. But, at the same time, one can’t help but feel a dip in energy that is associated with his movies. We get a laborious vibe here. Maybe it’s the effect of trying too hard to match the “visual” quality of the original. Valmiki looks close to DJ even though the backdrops are entirely unrelated to one another. It could be due to the same cinematographer for both the movies. The background score is also alright.

Check out the trailer below. Valmiki is all set to hit screens worldwide on September 20th. Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta produce the movie on 14 Reels Plus banner.
